Chelsea had an accepted application for Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and he will now fly to London for a medical examination.
The 28-year-old signed a five-year contract when he arrived at Chelsea and will provide competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero between the sticks for the Blues.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have found a breakthrough and come to an agreement with the French club after several talks between the two sides, and Mendy is now set to become a Blues player.
Mendy held talk with Rennes management on Friday morning after he missed training with small knock.
The deal for the Senegalese goalkeeper would be completed in few days time as Mendy flies to London for medical checkup.
He will become Frank Lampard’s seventh senior signing of the summer which follows the arrival of the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz.
West Ham’s Declan Rice is the next agenda when Chelsea completes their move on Wendy.
