Bashir Ahmed, special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on new media, assured a Twitter user that he would intervene to overturn the conviction of a Nigerian court.
Yunusa Dahiru (yellow) was sentenced by the Federal High Court of Yenagoa, in the state of Bayelsa, to 26 years of imprisonment for child trafficking and sexual exploitation of Ese Oruru whom he allegedly abducted in Bayelsa in 2015 at the age of 13.
Dahiru then took her to Kano State where she was allegedly forcefully married and impregnated by Dahiru.
A Twitter user, Hammad Yusuf Saleh, used his page to appeal to Ahmed to intervene in upturning the conviction of Dahiru by the court which he says was manipulated.
Here is what he tweeted;
“Please Bashir, do something about Yunusa Yellow for the love of Allah, he is wrongly accused and sentenced, the whole case is handled, we must appeal for him.”
Responding to Saleh’s tweet, Ahmed said:
“My brother, I do not have the power to do anything against the judgment of the court, but I will try to contact those whom I think are capable.”
